It's like looking through a frosted glass at a scene taking place just outside of my reach. I can never get quite close enough to hear everything that's being said, and yet, I know every word of their rehearsed program.

I feel desperately alone when I watch the dreams trickle through like this. They're as familiar as the jeans I know I'm wearing, and as alien as the thought that reminds me, But you're not wearing pants. You never wear pants. Why are you painting your face to look like every other girl?

Someday, I'm not going to wake up. The ghosts and spirits of the dreamworld will grab hold of me and haul me under the surface and I'll drown in a world that's just familiar enough to be completely forgotten.

I'll drink the coffee again, stare anxiously at the rain outside of my window, and wish it would wash away my dreaming nights. Someday, I will die between places.
